Swearing & Kelli remind us that timeless songs and melody can still be written in a generation where what is popular is copied and repeated over and over. Very few artist possess the uniqueness to be identifiable in the clutter of sameness, where from the every first note, you slip into a mood and think it might be on my playlist already.
Swearing and Kelli are the classic American songwriter duo, crafting songs that stick in your head like a beautiful vision. What it amounts to is an original blend of that great singer/songwriter sound of the 70’s and today’s Americana, alt-Country. Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Carole King, Alison Krauss, Kris Kristofferson quickly come to mind but upon further listening you realize those comparisons were just to get you to the next conclusion, that you’re listening to music that is uniquely Swearing and Kelli.
Acoustic finger style mastery and intricate two part harmony is the backbone of the duo’s sound. Swearingen and Kelli have repurposed the simple love song and created paintings that hang on you, cleverly arranged into peaceful easy listening with clear emotional honesty.
