One of the world’s truly extraordinary guitarists, Vignola brings his jaw-dropping technique for a not-to-be-missed concert. Joined tonight by youthful guitar ace Vinny Raniolo, he demonstrates the stunning virtuosity that has made him the guitarist of choice for many of the world’s top musicians, including Ringo Starr, Donald Fagen, Wynton Marsalis, and the late guitar legend Les Paul, who included Frank in his “Five Most Admired Guitar List.”
Raised in the New York area, Frank started playing guitar at the age of six. In the 1980s he enjoyed numerous sideman gigs with folks like Madonna and Leon Redbone, as well as coming into his own as a bandleader with his famed Hot Club of France tribute, which the New York Times hailed as one of New York City’s top ten acts of 1988.
Frank has explored a range of musical genres over the subsequent years: leading jazz projects like Appel Direct, performing with Les Paul, and playing with the likes of Donald Fagen, Queen Latifah, and Mark O’Connor. He also somehow found the time to write 18 guitar instruction books for Mel Bay Publications and record numerous solo and collaborative CDs, recently Just Between Frets with Tommy Emmanuel (Solid Air) and Frank-N-Dawg with David Grisman (Acoustic Disc).
At the tender age of 26, guitar whiz Vinny has already performed alongside many of the finest musicians in the world, including Tommy Emmanuel, Tony Trishka, and Matt Flinner–not to mention Frank Vignola!
